The most effective and innovative hotel booking agent

When we introduced Hotelscene,
compliance with hotel booking policy
shot up from 45% to over 90%

Hotelscene has been BTs sole hotel booking Agent since 2003. Since it took over the business from Amex average hotel rates paid by BT globally have reduced by 5% and over 70% of bookings are made online using our award winning Corporate Xtranet.
Why BT chose Hotelscene
Prior to August 2003, BT used a single travel management company but was unhappy with traveller compliance; a significant proportion of staff chose to make their own arrangements either directly with the hotel or online via an number of web sites.
BT found it difficult to accurately measure or manage its hotel expenditure and believed that lack of compliance was costing the organisation a huge amount of money. After a competitive tender, BT concluded that Hotelscene offered the best capabilities to help them achieve significant cost savings, traveller compliance and high online adoption.
“We have been totally justified in making the decision to appoint Hotelscene,” says Jan Tucker Jones, BT Travel Manager. "Where Hotelscene comes into its own is its flexibility. If we make suggestions for changing the online booking system, they say ‘yes’ and it’s done straight away. We don’t have to wait six months for it.”
Hotelscene’s Corporate Travel Xtranet
“Hotelscene’s online booking tool, the Corporate Xtranet, is very attractive and very simple,” says Ms Tucker Jones. “The adoption rate by our travellers has hit over 70%, which is excellent.”
The Corporate Xtranet is not only popular with BT travellers and bookers, but also with Jan’s Travel Management team, delivering online management information direct to the team, allowing them to monitor expenditure and adherence to policy in a way that was not possible with the previous TMC. “The online reporting is excellent, at any time I have access to key information. When I need a new report, Hotelscene are able to produce what I want and make it available to me online very quickly”says Debbie McCarthy, Travel Buyer.
Hotelscene move centre stage following consistent performance for BT
There is no accolade we prize more highly nor work for harder than consistently satisfied customers. BT are an excellent case of this.
Like many companies when they began working with us their overall provider was an air-led TMC (Travel Management Company) we were called in as a niche hotel specialist.
Initially our service was just one option open to staff for hotel bookings. By November 2005 staff feedback was so positive and the savings so significant that BT mandated the service enabling us to deliver still further savings.
BT have now decided that they will make Hotelscene their overall travel solution and use a TMC as a scheduled airline specialist.
This is a trend we are seeing more widely in the market. Corporations are finding that hotels are their biggest single travel expenditure and where the greatest savings can be made and so it makes sense to appoint an Agency that specialises in this area.
Client Demand
Since we started working with BT over 33,000 of their staff have used it to book their hotel and Rail travel needs.
BT’s travellers and bookers have been so impressed with the Corporate Xtranet that they have consistently requested that it expands into other areas of travel. These requests have been instrumental in Hotelscene’s latest expansions and innovations. BT’s rail requirements, served by The Trainline, are already fully integrated with the Corporate Xtranet. Similarly, BT is incorporating Hotelscene’s new Reporting and Expense reporting into their business travel strategy.
